Watson's Mill

Watson's Mill

This project involved the repair and replacement of the lower portion of stone along the eastern wall of the mill and the repair of the exterior concrete flume foundation wall at the south-east corner of the Mill all of which were located in the Rideau River. The scope of work included an investigation of the extent of concrete deterioration inside the flume and to evaluate the condition of the exterior mill and flume walls, along the foundation and provide repair recommendations. Our office liaised with Parks Canada and the City of Ottawa to obtain the relevant permits and to ensure all mitigation measures were incorporated into the construction documents. The challenges faced included issues such as noise, dust control, protection of marine life, ensuring water sediments are filtered prior to draining into the Rideau River, removal of debris on the river bed and public safety.
