Banque Royale,
Vieux Montreal
Highlights
A prominent heritage building in Old Montreal that required a combination of preservation, restoration and rehabilitation. Our office was responsible for the preparation of a report outlining the proposed interventions, upgrades and design philosophies under consideration and the preparation of contract documents.
Challenges
The initial project involved the structural stabilization of masonry to mitigate building fall hazards. The subsequent project involved repairs to stone anchorage system, repair and replacement of stone. Concealed steel corrosion was revealed as the masonry was removed, necessitating complete exposure, cleaning and treating of the north-east corner steel column.
